    Hi Richard. There are two different versions of this system , wired differently. If you could post the ECU part number and the number of pins on each connector , I should be able to identify it. I can e-mail you a spreadsheet with the ECU pin listing if neccesary.
    I think it is unlikely that you have an immobiliser problem , I have never seen an immobilised version on this year of car , even on imported versions (which are usually Japanese or Australian spec in this country , and neither of these has an immobiliser). I would guess that the most likely fault is the ignition amplifier which I have known to cause exactly these symptoms. We should be able to test the ECU for you if you decide it neccesary.
