    This C3 came in with the same P1161 code as previously mentioned. The first time we saw it, we just cleaned the throttle body & cleared the codes. A week later it came back & after a complete strip down & clean, it appears to be sorted.





    It's hard to explain, but the step in the capture, occurs because of the way the throttle butterfly is sprung. The "neutral" or relaxed position of the butterfly is not the actual closed position. It is quite heavily biased at approximately 15% opening (my guess only) & it is when the throttle butterfly passes this neutral position that step effect is seen. It is also accompanied by a distinct click from the throttle housing.
