    Hi chaps
Starting to get the hang of autotalk.
I have an odd engine mechanical problem. This Corsa came in having lost power and the engine management light had came on then gone off with most power returning but with a nasty tappety clank noise. At first thinking it was the usual timing chain problem but on removal of the rocker cover it became clear that it was a follower problem. What has happened is the centre plunger of the hydraulic lifter on one cylinder one exhaust valve has come out with the follower tipping over to one side with the camshaft merrily smacking hell out of everything. Damage has been caused to the top of the valve stem in such a way that the follower cannot be put back onto it as the follower would then be operating on the collet plate. The centre of the hydraulic lifter cannot be found (as yet). Has anyone had this happen before and what was the cause? Lack of oil does not seem to have been a problem here, no sign of lack of oil, distress to any component.
    Any suggestions welcome.
P.S only get a chance to look at these at home as no internet at work.
