    Morning,
    Had the above vehicle last week with a number of faults, fuel trim errors caused by two split breather pipes, fixed. Cam/crank synchronization error, new chain and tensioner, fixed.
    However there is a third fault which I can't get any info on.

    16985 (P0601) Internal Control Module: Memory Check Sum Error.

    Elsa isn't much help saying only:

    Control Unit Defective, Replace Engine Control Unit.

    If that is what is needed then so be it, but I would still like to know what causes this fault and if there is an alternative fix.

    The vehicle drives perfectly and has done less than 70k and the owner has had it for two and a half years with no other problems however he does think it may have been chipped before he got it as at time of purchase he drove this one and another back to back and said this one was much quicker.

    Any help would be great.
