It is in "Economy mode" because the engine has not started for more than a preset time, usually 30 mins but can be set differently. This probably happened whilst it was being hoovered out. The idea is to prevent battery going flat. Economy mode will not prevent engine starting or comms with scanner. BSM/BSI(fuse box) is supposed to protect from reverse polarity but I have never been brave enough to test this feature! Agree with Nick about battery connection. There is a wake up procedure, think BBA have it on thier site but not sure it is necessary. Our dealer says to disconnect & reconnect with ignition ON. Would be a good idea to check fuses are all in the right locations...wouldn't be the first time.
