Audi A4(1996)VIN: WAUZZZ8DZTA050553 1.8ltrADR(5 valve engine with manual gear box))This car has the following problem: On deceleration/release of throttle it will hunt up and down for a while until its idle stabilizes. We did a throttle adaption,We have replaced a split breather hose,we replaced the part of the air intake hose that has a one way valve in it(the valve had come apart),We replaced the O2 sensor. We vapor(smoke)tested the engine and can find no more(vacuum) leaks. The idle control valve does work, I just wonder if it is too slow to respond? The airflow meter tests ok on the scope, and disconnecting it does not improve the symptom). Other than the above issue the car runs great. The ignition system has been checked over by us and seems fine. After we replaced the faulty hoses no codes have set anymore(Before that we had code for: lambda adaption additive too low(0231).
Has anyone come across this before? Is it time for a new idle control valve?
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
    John Gijsbers
