Last week we got a Mondeo Duratec in for MOT failure due to blue smoking. ( badly when hot )
    It failed with C0 @ 6%

i was originally going to tell the customer to take it away as it was a mechanical problem. ( either rings or valve stem oil seals. )

They asked me to see if I could get it through the MOT. So I told them that we could try flushes etc, but with no guarrantee.

They wanted me to carry on at their Expense even if it did not work.

So, I put 2 bottles of forte in the oil, Ran it for a good half an hour, ( it fouled up no 2 spark plug whilst running with the flush ) so i assume thats the cylinder causing the problem.

I poured another bottle into the spark plug holes and left it to stand and then drained and refilled the oil, drained the flush out of the cylinders, fitted new spark plugs and took it for a good thrash around the country side, ( after the smoke had cleared. )

I rechecked the emissions the next day with C0 at 0%. Took it for a retest and it passed with flying colours.

If it was left running untill the fans cut in, it still smoked a little whereas previously it puthered blue smoke.

One happy customer, How long it will last is anyones guess but I got paid and the Car got an MOT.

And I also read other posts on UKAT about Duratec's Smoking due to possible sticking rings which gave me the idea's that flushes might possibly work.

    H.T.H. Tony.S.
