VW Golf VR6 2001 engine vibration Archived Message

I've been asked to look at this car to check for a misfire at idle. Its engine code is BDE and its done about 47000 miles. The car is at one of my trade customers garage and has already had two coil packs fitted which has cured an obvious misfire but there is still a vibration at idle which becomes more noticeable at around 1100 RPM. I can't pin it down to a misfire, the engine sounds OK and it doesn't matter which cylinder you disable, they all very obviously cause a misfire and the revs drop by an equal amount. I'm wondering whether this could be a mechanical fault causing the engine to run slightly out of balance. I know some of these VW's have strange crank pulleys, I don't know whether this car is fitted with a dual mass flywheel? Any comments would be much appreciated.
