    thanks for replys guys,checked valve springs & valve timing all ok coolant temp sens only 2 pin but was good on vag,took the plunge & fitted a kat which didnt seem to work even after 30mins conditioning, had to do 15miles & re-tested emmisions which were perfect fuel trim at idle 1% either way which im relieved about! my only question is why with this twin sensor system didnt the "poor catalyst performance" code appear with the fuel trim code, bearing in mind fuel trim is a result of other actions made by the whole system not the cause of faults, bit missleading however lost a load of time but hopefully gained a customer bering in mind the stealer told him it was a fuel filter & erased his code temporarly! thanks.
