Hi all, got a golf that once in a blue moon and sometimees two or three times in a row, the engine check light liiuminates then the oil pressure light flashes and an alarm sounds. If at idle the veh cuts out but will restart again. This can happen at idle while driving on motorway.
The oil pressure is good, the switch has been changed, the signal from the engine speed sensor looks good, the plug at the pressure sensor and the speed sensor have been rewired with new pins.
The code stored in ECU is sporadic loss of engine speed signal.
Any one any ideas what the connection is?
I was going to replace speed sensor but I hate just replacing parts for no reason, and cant see the sensor giving a sporadic signal and if it was knackered why does it work for weeks then play up once or twice then be fine for weeks? Whats the connection to the oil pressure light and alarm? Thanks in advance Jim
