Hi all, there are a couple of Ford technical service bulletins on this subject. I have just looked for vehicles around the year you say and found Ford bulletin No.96/1997 which may apply. It may be worth contacting your dealer or , alternatively post the exact vehicle details to see if any of the known faults apply to your particular car.
