    It's a poor design, as Mike said, the fuel just recirculates around the tank.

    I've not investigated the methodology of the unit, other than, it picks up fuel from the side of the tank that doesn't have the pump in (it's a saddle fuel tank as the exhaust pipe travels underneath it splitting the last quarter of the tank, like BMW's).

    The units inner and outer parts twist together, but there is nothing once fitted (besides spring tension) to stop them slowly unwinding apart!
    I've heard of dealers using short stainless steel screws to prevent the bayonet fitting from moving again.

    I've seen 3 in the last 4 months, 04+54 regs.
