    Hi Nick,
    There isn't a pump in the nearside, it's a filter /accumulator.
    The fuel pump is in the offside, which pumps fuel over to the nearside and what doesn't go the front returns back to the offside bringing back fuel from the nearside through a pick-up in the return pipe.
    The accumulator has a metal clip about half way down and this becomes loose, which results in a drastic loss of fuel pressure.
    Apparently you can re-fit the clip, but the one I had, I had to replace the complete nearside unit, about £62 + vat from Rover, a bit fiddly to change but not impossible - you have to remove the fuel pump as well to get to the pipes/connectors.
