Rover 400 Diesel 1999 - Brake lamp fault, no power Archived Message

    Hi All

Rover 400 Bosch Diesel 2.0 1999 - No cruise control

Just thought i would share this with you, may help someone sometime

The Rover came in with no brake lights, checked bulbs and decided it was the switch.

Rover dealer said that they have never sold a brake switch, and the 4 wire switches are only fitted to vehicles with cruise control (ours does not)

Fitted new switch yesterday, adjusted for slight pedal travel before brake lamps came on - fixed

Customer takes vehicle but no power, comes back and we re check brake lamps and ok, connected snappy scanner and it keeps flagging brake switch fault (but brake lights working ok)

After half a day of head scratching i screwed the brake switch all the way in (plunger fully in), and guess what, all power back

So if you do fit a switch make sure it is screwed in fully, not just till brake lamps work, must be connected to cruise control circuit somehow

    Peter
