Ford Escort Endura DE 98 - No crank after engine rebuid Archived Message

    Hi All,
Garage removed and rebuilt engine after cambelt broke. Now no crank. Enter me! My A/D kit found p1600 & p1602 (relate to non-pats or damaged keys and partial key read respectively). Cleared and haven't returned. However... when ignition turned on PATS led by clock flashes 'vigorously' for some while, then flashes code '31'. I have found out that this means comms. from ECU to PATs module are faulty. Having scoured the archives I believe this could be a wiring fault i.e. to Pump, or sensor. Also quickly tried extraxting DTCs from ECU. No comms! Would this confirm the wiring theory? Any ideas gratefully received.
    Thanks,
    Nick
