On the subject of testing ecus,I believe that within the next 2 years testing may well become redundant, why ?Well the encoding that manufactures are applying to them does not seem to conform to any standardisation, therefore the testing companies are constantly playing catch up with having to develop new looms and ways of accessing the ECU,because I believe the manufacturers do not make this information available to them. We presume the original developer/manufacturer of the ECU must test these devises before they leave their factory. Perhaps they should offer the testing service ?I also believe that with the cost of producing these devices will be driven down to the point where we should be able to purchase and fit these devices in the same way we now fit an oxygen sensor, in which to carry out a process of elimination/and substitution. It would also appear that the latest generation of ECUs apart from being fitted in ridiculous locations, are now being designed and built with all components integrated into one chip ,thus making repair not a feasible proposition,so where do we go from here??
