Vauxhall Carlton Diplomat 2.6 i 1991 J Plate Bosch M1.5 - Non starter, crank sensor code stored Archived Message

    Hi all,
Interesting one this, got called for non-starting, checked faults stored- crankshaft sensor, no spark, tested crank sensor resistance and scoped, sensor u/s so fitted new one, now has good spark at coil lead but not so good at plugs so tested leads, all OK, so get new Dist. cap and rotor. Now have very good spark at plugs but plugs wet and dirty so fit new plugs and do compression test. All compressions down a bit but enough to run. Check fuel pressure, all OK, fuel getting into cylinders as plugs getting wet!
You know what I'm going to say now don't you....
Yes, it still won't run, have checked for blocked exhaust, checked again with FCR, no faults logged, have jump leads on so plenty of battery but with 6 reasonable compressions good spark and fuel it should run shouldn't it! I even tried some easy start in the intake in case the fuel is poisoned!
Anybody got any more ideas before I set light to it as it isn't worth spending too much more time or parts on.
    TIA
    Derek
