this is not an uncommon problem , all i can say is i have been there and done that. its only a problem on cars built after 06/2k3 having spoken to vauxhall(T.A.C) they are advising us to change the E.C.U . they have had a number of cases that have been fixed for a few weeks by an earth lead from the battery direct to E.C.U . but the problem has always returned . the only problem now is they are only releasing the new units on a per case basis. if i went to our parts dept and asked for for a new unit i would be waiting for ever . but i phone the T.A.C and they are released to our parts dept on the current job no and case no.
