    Thanks for the replies,

The fuse box and engine bay harness woes are known to me and are in the archive. The thing I was hoping for was a pointer regarding the flashing transmission lights. How ever after your replies I decided to check for goldfish in the battery fuse-box. Non were found. But I tried removing the PCM/fuel pump relay (Green/purple) and that replicated the fault. On stripping the relay a dry joint was found on the coil of the relay that feeds the PCM pin 40. I have re-soldered all joints on the relay and the owner is trying the vehicle over the week end. What other way can we be sure on such an intermittent fault. But it was a job that two or three other people have not been able to fix and that gives me the greater pleasure.

    Charles.
