Ford Mondeo 2.0 2000 (X) - Intermittently stalling at idle - Fixed #

Have a Ford Mondeo 2.0L petrol estate that generally speaking runs really well. But it has an annoying habit of very intermittantly stalling at idle - coming up to junctions etc. No fault codes. Have changed the idle speed control valve as relitively inexpensive but fault still there. It may only do this once every 2 wks.
any thoughts

Thanks for that Job problem is still ongoing and as there was a secondry problem I asked the customer to try and work out if the two problems occurr at the same time which has now been established. The second problem being loss of speedo and when the speedo is lost thats when it cuts out at idle, ie junctions, traffic lights etc. Again no codes are logged. If this is still likely to be a software upgrade has anyone got the Ford FDS and is able to do it or are there any other suggestions.

Surely it must be a speed sensor fault if speedo cuts out at same time.

speed sensor signal loss will cause the stalling as you describe.

THANK,S STEVE HAVE NOW REPLACED TANSDUCER, WILL LET YOU KNOW IF FIXED.PS CODE WAS BEING FLAGED REFF TRADSDUCER CUIRCIT, PROBLEM HAD BECOME MUCH MORE FREQUENT.

Spot on. I can't believe its so long since I've been on Autotalk and feel bad that I havn't listed the fixes.
