Skoda Fabia 1.0 OHV engine code AQV

I am having problems with this Skoda giving fuel trim fault p0170
I am getting 398 hpa manifold pressure on actual values - around 17 on vac guage which seems not quite enough. I have used smoke pro and no leaks evidant. It runs fine but fuel trim is at about 4.5%
ESI says the valve clearances are hydraulic but they are adjustable, and had no clearance so we removed / reseated the valves reassembled and still the same !!!

Only 45,000 miles and 1 owner.
I have also carried out engine flusch

Any Ideas would be apreciated

Hi Glen

Low vac reading could point to inlet leak or timing issue, if no leaks could the timing chain be a bit slack?.....just a thought!

Hi

I think you will find these have a hydraulic lifter below the push rod, so do not have a running clearance.

There is a method for the initial setting, but can't remember exact detail. AD help line gave me the info at the time.

Any other running issues ? restricted exhaust will also give low VAC. I have a feeling that these may have lower than normal idle vac, but yours look well down. Hopfully somone will confirm

Hi glen ,had one of these three weeks ago,turned out to be knackered Kat i assume this veh has post kat sensor,so check gas readings,also these suffer from air leaks at manifolds causing you fuel trim issue,kats for these are very expensive,also after fitment it took a 20mile road test to learn new settings even after fault code reset hope this helps keith.

I had run the car with the front 02 sensor out to see if it improved manifold vac but it had no effect.

Thanks everyone for your input but sadly the customer wasn't prepared to spend any more on it and has taken it to trade in.
