I need to replace the crankshaft sensor on this car.It looks like i have to remove the inlet manifold.I am just wondering if anyone has an easier soluation to fitting this.

I have it from a BMW tech. that there is no easy workaround and you have to remove the manifold.I think 4-5 hours work was mentioned,so beware of underquoting the job.

I Remember one of my Staff doing one of these, He Actually managed it from underneath, He struggled badly due to lack of room but managed it, But he did say that if he ever did another one, he would remove the manifold. I was also told by the Dealers that they were allowed around 5 hours to do the job,

But that cannot be right as AUTODATA at that time stated that it took about 1.5 hours.

and we know that AUTODATA only use official Warranty times allowed by the Manufacturer so they Must be right. ?????????????

This may have even been changed on later information but i have no access to see that. ( AWWWWW what a shame)

Thanks for the replys.looks like there is no easy soluation.

I believe its quite easy if you have a broken arm

as above, and when refitting manifold, theres a tool to help line up the ventilator/breather box in the middle of the manifold-if u look though, the box just slides into grooves in the manifold,so when lowering manifold on just reach in with (large) hand and hold it in.On removal of manifold, there are 2 small torx bolts through brackets underneath into manifold-rear one was easy with long quarter extensions but front one i had to fix small torx bit into miniature spanner-5 hrs should do it.
