BMW 218i N42 B20A - Where is the crank sensor located - Fixed #

Can anyone please tell me where the crank sensor is on this car?Removed air filter ducting and undertray ,nowhere to be seen?

Hi Colin the sensor is at the rear of the block under the starter motor.You have to remove the inlet manifold to gain access to replace it although the starter does not have to come off. Its not a bad job really just a lot of work to change a crank sensor.People have reported changing the sensor from underneath without removing manifold but having done loads of these i don't think i could manage it and even so by the time you have struggled to attempt it you could have the manifold off

I'l take off the top engine covers tomorrow to see if i can see it,then decide!

Could'nt see the sensor from top or bottom,so took off manifold.Easy enough once the manifold is off,but cant see how you could do this from underneath.
Not the easiest manifold to remove,about 3hrs first go.
