Renault Clio II 1.6 8v 1999 - Misfire to No. 1 & 4 cylinders, coils changed #

Year of Manufacture *: 1999
Engine Code or Type *: 1600 8vale

Have checked compression all good, sparks good have changed coils and swapped injectors, changed inlet manifold gaskets, but it still misfires at idle and driving, but every now and again it will start and have no misfire but within about 10 secs it will misfire. Any ideas.

Scope the primary switching signal from the ECU and compare with cylinders two and three.

HI
IS IT AN IGNITION MISS OR AN INJECTION MISS.
ECU COIL DRIVER SOUNDS A GOOD BET TO ME.
SCOPE TEST AT ECU IF POSS.
CHECK LOOM BETWEEN ECU AND COILS.
COILS 1&4 ARE WIRED IN SERIES SO A PROBLEM ON ONE COIL WILL AFFECT THE OTHER.

Stephen check terminal block into coil pack had one recently where there was open circuit on primay as terminal had spread within the plastic plug HTH

Have you checked the valve clearances,also check the camshaft pulley key.

Had one of these doing similar a while back and it ended up being an intermittent wiring break in the loom but was able to remove the metal ECU shield and solder in a new wire from ECU to the coil.
