Citroen C5 1.8 16v 6FZ 2003 - Starts to misfire after 30 seconds, codes P0300 & P0302 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Code or Type *: 6FZ

Have this C5 in with the following fault. Start from cold engine idles for about 30sec then starts to misfire getting progressively worse. Mil flashing and cat fault indication on display. Switch of and restart and invariably it improves.2 faults present p0300/p0302 multi cylinder misfire, misfire cyl 2. Swapped coil pack, same. Does anyone know of a common fault with these? as it could be fuel,ign,mechanical, and i guess the ecu is shutting down relevant injector once it sees misfire. Once the car is warmed up it runs fine with no problems and has just flown through MOT whilst this fault is present.

I seem to remember Peugeots having problems with the larger capacity 16v engines (the ones that tilt back - very technical description - lol).
The hydraulic tappet buckets were either sticking from cold, or were sticking in the head casting.
If local Citroen dealer aren't forthcoming, try Peugeot.

I run a 1999 406 RFR on very cold mornings it will valve jack and misfire till warm,I know I going to have the head off eventually

just had same codes on 16v astra, cure was forte flush, top end and gas treatment , cause was sticking valves.

Thanks for the replies guys, i have flushed it last week in a service and have now added the top end / gas treatment and i have to say the problem cured itself much quicker this morning and on the drive back to the customer , the engine seemed much smoother. Fingers crossed.
