Hyundai Sante FE 2.7 V6 2002 - Non start when cold, air temp sensor showing 28c in workshop - Fixed#

Engine Code or Type *: 2.7v6
( Optional ) Scanner used: snap on solus

Non start when very cold suspect intake air temp sensor as on eobd its showing 28c in my workshop, not that warm in workshop, anybody know were it is, or is it built into airflow meter

Hi Paul,
Wiring diagram on Hyundai website shows the IAT sensor seperate from maf, but easiest way to tell, has the maf got 3 wires or 5 ?

sorry dave car gone back to customer but im round there tommorrow to pick his other car up so i will look then, i connected up to a polo in the workshop to see what temp that registered and it was 16c so it looks like this is the fault thanks paul

Hi Paul

Can't see Air Temp Sensor causing a non-start. Unless there are exceptions to the rule, all the ATS does is trim the mixture depending on ambient air temperature and therefore won't make a great deal of difference.

Hi Paul,
IAT wont prevent starting. Have you checked ect sensor? Maybe the system is not enriching or is flooding engine.
I can get the details you need if required.

the air flow meter only has 3 wires it would not start this morning -3c it would start later when warmer the cts read 70c yesterday in the workshop when engine was running warming up ?

You need to check ECT when engine is stone cold.

sorry chaps i did not have enough time to check car this morning for spark/fuel etc will try and get it in overnight to check temp sensor from cold etc thanks paul

COOLANT TEMP SENSOR IS MOST LIKLY TO GIVE YOU TEMPRATURE RELATED PROBLEMS. CHANGE IT. AND SEE QUICK AND EASY AND NOT EXPENSIVE..

Fitted new coolant temp sensor a couple of weeks ago and customer reports back vehicle starting fine
