BMW 530i E34 2001 - Intermittent non start and cutting out - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 1990/91
Engine Code or Type *: E34
( Optional ) ECU Type: Motronic 1.3

Hi all

I've already traced the fault on this one. It's the fuel pump relay losing its earth trigger signal.
My question is, does this earth come from the ecu, and if so, which one? Or does it get this from one of the larger relay modules in the fuse box?
Any help on this would be much appreciated!

Hi Jonathan

The fuel pump relay gets the neg feed from pin No.1 of the Engine ECM, make sure the feed from the Engine control relay to the ECM is not giving you problems, this feeds pin 54 of the ECM and also the injectors,

Yep!
Thanks Tom! The ECU is intermittantl losing its earth!
Will send it away to see if it can be repaired!
