Landrover Discovery V8 1998 - Non runner, code P1673 incorrect immobiliser signal #

Year of Manufacture *: 1998
Engine Code or Type *: 36d

hi all got above car in non runner scanned with dec 2 fault code p1673 incorrect imo signal tryed to re configer no joy their is two green lights flashing on the with m and s whent in to auto box fault code the same p1673 on the side of the box is an x y z unit will this unit give the same fault .we have no spark and no fuel i have read somewhere about a spider unit in the center of the dash had a look and non their just heater box any help please thanks craig

The spider unit is the immobiliser box and is situated behind the dash between the radio and heater.The most common fault with these is a loss of power to the ignition coil.(hence no spark).With ignition on check for a good solid power supply to the +ve of the coil.(usually a black wire).If not,then run a temp supply from battery and see if she fires up.

As Andy says, pop a power to the coil and if it starts Bob's your uncle.

Hello Craig,
I think Tony & Andy are assuming it's a series one Discovery, which has got a spider unit fitted behind the radio as they stated. But if I am correct, yours is a Discovery 2, which has a body control module & no spider unit. Try re-learning the security signal, using your diagnostic equipment/scan tool.

hi thanks andrew for ur reply i have tryed to re learn useing dec 2 and still nothing also tryed useing eka and no joy i think some petrol may sort this out ha ha thanks if you have anymore info

Hello Craig,
Is there any sign of water ingress around/above the fuse box on the drivers side?or around the bcm on the passenger's side? Do the windows work or the central locking switch on the dash? Does the gear position show correctly on the instrument cluster?
Also, joking about petrol , has it got enough in it , as I have had one of my own vehicles log a fault for the immobiliser before, which wouldn't clear, but it turned out that it was low on fuel, but I doubt this is your problem as you say that there is no spark or fuel.Have you checked the inertia switch?Does the vehicle lock/unlock using the fob?
