Jaguar X Type 2.5 V6 2002 - Light load misfire after routine plug change #

Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Engine Code or Type *: 2.5 v6
( Optional ) Scanner used: kts and carman

serviced the car replaced the spark plugs with new jaguar(ngk) plugs and 6 new inlet manifold seals the car has returned with a light load misfire i have checked for dtc none also i have replaced the spark plugs and double checked for correct gap re-checked manifold seals i then checked the gas readings which are ok has anybody come across this before i have booked the car back in for next week to check fuel pressure and scope the coils with a cop tester/pico any other suggetions where to look .

Chris,
probably not much help but I had exacltly the same problem. New ngk plugs from local factor at service then customer mentioned slight misfire under load. I got some more plugs from jaguar which were also ngk but a different part number. When I contacted the customer to book in and fit them he said the problem had "settled down".
I still have the replacement plugs!

I too had the same experiance after changing plugs on one. Had it back in to try another set,not a 5 min job,checked everything ,could not find any other fault ,but customer kept on complaining of slight missfire. Air filter was very dirty when we changed it at the service ,i wondered maybe if it takes a long time to adjust ltft or mucky filter could have been masking a previous fault,will never know as customer got a bit snotty about it.

I had this problem after service and fitting NGK plugs,customer had a problem getting the car back to us and after about three weeks rang and said it was OK.

thank you for the replys car is still not sorted i did probe the coils with the cop tester but it all looked normal i also tested the injectors and fuel pressure both seemed okay my biggest worry is the next time a jag comes in needing plugs !! until this one gets sorted i think i will give them a miss

a light one does anyone know if jags reset any adaptions after a plug change service !! thanks again chris

Hi all,

Just serviced a 2002 2.0 V6 X-type & now also have a momentary hesitation at light load / low revs ,fitted NGK plugs from factors ( tried 2 sets) , has anyone experienced this fault since fitting other plugs or is it just NGK's?
