Toyota Corolla 1.4 VVTi 2000 - MIL flashing and misfire #

Hi Guys,
00 corolla turned up with what sounded like a misfire, Mil light was reported to be flashing before it stayed on constant. Our Scanner guy is out of the country so no code read yet, engine has coil on plug setup each with three pins, middle goes to ground and I presume the other two are primary coil all four reading 7ohms.
When I probed HT side (plug side) and the left and right pins I got continuity on one coil, nothing on the other three, which lead me to the conclusion that I was dealing with one dud coil, which I replaced and now I am dealing with a non start !! engine does fire but no start.
Took off coils and have wet plugs (which are new) I know its only guesswork without a code read, just wondering if anyone has any thoughts ?

Hi,your system should be a M4.6.2 ? if so then your COPs have the end stage built in, which means that you should not use an Ohms meter on them. termial 1) signal wire. ECU pins C5,C6,C8,C9 termial 2) earth wire. termial 3) Ign feed via fuel pump relay.

PS the flashing MIL indicates that the system has detected a missfire that could damage the "cat"
