BMW M5 V8 2001 - Code 170AA Secondary air quantity to low - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2001
Engine Code or Type *: V8

Hi all, we have this vehicle coming in wednesday,has been Fault code read by a BMW specialist as follows 170 AA Secondary air quantity too low. Now the trader has sent me a link from a BMW owners forum which and if his vehicle is suffering like the one featured in the article, then the only cure will be to remove the heads and clean
out the secondary air ports.
Here's my ideal would any Autologic user on here
know if they could provide a software "by-pass"
for the secondary air system?

Hi Nigel
Just noticed your post, there is no way of reprogramming ecu to do what you want. (Some) success has been had by removing the external pipe and cleaning, welding rods/carb cleaner/mr.muscle etc on internal ports-leave to soak overnight--blow out and maybe repeat.Well worth a try as the alternative is as you have mentioned. I have just remembered the 'Innotec' product for cleaning turbo vanes-now that might be worth a go, let us know how you get on.

Thanks Ed we think we have fixed this by as you described ,repeted doses of carb clean and high pressure air,trader was as you can imagine was well pleased!
