Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 X12XE 2000 - Poor performance, flat spot - Fixed #

Engine Code or Type *: X12XE
( Optional ) Scanner used: X431/ ID

We have a corsa that has poor performance/ running, flat spots when cold, sometimes wiil not rev up. The head has been off to put valves in it as two were burnt out but still the same. Compressions check out OK, Egr closes and opens as it should and is sealed tight when closed, valve timing has been rechecked. No fault codes logged, live data seems ok, vacuum check on inlet suggests that it is a little low at 19 inches mercury at tickover but no air leaks.
Anyone any suggestions?

Rechecked MAF readings when cold. Should have been around 17 - 18 kg/hr but our readings were 9 - 10 kg/hr. We had already discounted valve timing, air leaks, and egr. Fitted a MAF sensor and lo and behold the vehicle runs ok all the way through the rev range and temperature range. Extended road test proved ok. Rechecked live data and still only getting around 11kg/hr which is still lower than anticipated. Customer is going to run car to try it but I am not certain that we have fixed the fault or just masked it by slightly improving MAF efficiency. Time will tell

Evening Jeff,

Unless I am sadly mistaken, I believe your reading of 10 kg/h is correct for the car. Do not think you will get it back again.

The car will be coming back in in the future. The reason I said the readings were low is that both x431 and ID give the MAF actual readings at tickover and also the MAF expected readings at tickover and the two are quite far apart (40%)
