Peugeot 206 1.1 HFX 2001 - Key progamming #

Engine Code or CC *: HFX 1100
( Optional ) Scanner Used: DEC AUTODIAGNOS

Hi all this is a strange one just wondered if any body else has experienced the same fault. Car runs fine and starts but customer wanted an extra key. I can clear and reprogram existing key no problem, then when I try to add second (unprogrammed) key the DEC looses coms with BSI. After quizzing customer about source of supply for new key it came from ebay. I suggested we buy the correct key from Peugeot and that was exactly the same. Dealer says they have come accross this problem earlier vehicles and new keys, they explain it as an earlier software version on vehicleas being incompatible with new key suggest that a new com2000 unit is required to write to a new key. It is possible but has anyone experienced this Dave McCall

Just get it cloned if it is a problem, should be a type 45 and a good locksmith can do it for you, HTH ,Neil

Hi Dave
I have not seen this problem before,however i cant see how a comm 2000 switch assembly could help with key coding as the comm 2000 does not carry any coding of keys as far as i am aware.

I would get your bsi software upgraded at the dealer then proceed again with programming to see what happens.The bsi carries the coding functon not the comm 2000 or so i believe

i thought the coms2000 unit was part of the immobiliser system as well as the BSI module.

I'm qute sure the key reader plugs into the coms2000 unit.

Are you sue they've supplied the correct key as i've had it with dealers in the past where the model is on a change over year (different immobiliser systems fitted) and supplied incorrect chip type.

Take your original key to a locksmith/key cuting shop and see if they can identify the chip and then order a new chip to suit the new key.

Immobiliser chips are available from North West Key Services or Hicleys and not normally expensive.

When I tried to order a key for a Peugeot Recently I Was told by our dealer a that on that model they have a Master key and sub key, And we needed to know which key we already had as you cannot program a master key into a system that already has the master key. ?? I had never heard this before on peugeots but it sounds possible. ? I think ours might have been a 307 but i its got a comms 2000 unit it might be a simlar system. ??

How would it know which is a master key that your trying to add. Doesn't it determine which key is being used by the keys that is programmed.

I think Vauxhall systems know which key is present in the ignition and in live data i'm sure its listed as key 1 present.

Do would it be best to erase all known keys then add 2 noting which one is coded 1st and mark that as master.
