Citroen C5 RLZ 2002 - Loss of power under load - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Engine Code or CC *: RLZ
( Optional ) Scanner Used: acr4

have a c5 hpi in with a loss of power under load .looking back through this forum i have found i think the answer- a worn vvt hub .car has the same symptoms,rattle from top end ,no faults stored,when noise is loudest loss of power is worse.car has been to dealer but they could not fix . ordered part from local citroen dealer (v.expensive),it has now gone on back order for weeks! the customer needs his car back .maybe part is available elsewhere? any help much appreciated

Hi
High pressure pump failure under load,known issue.
You must also replace regulator at same time

still struggling with the trusty c5.It doesnt appear to have a fuel pressure problem.Took it for a long road test with scanner plugged in (sykes acr 4} with fault appsrent- shudders under load up hills mainly ,fuel rail pressure and lamda readings stay constant.I have changed the high pressure pump,coil pack and plugs previosly for other faults.Did replace VVT hub,engine sounds perfect now.Running out of ideas now .No one else can/wants to fix it !

Hi Adrian,

Have you considered a blocked exhaust (cat)? A vacuum check will give you an idea.

Funnily enough we changed the catalyst a few weeks ago {rusted} !

Just another thought on the C5.This fault has shown three times and cleared on my many road tests,P1622 throttle motor position sensor/manifold absolute pressure sensor -correlation. I do see very strange readings from the pedal position sensor (at the end of acc. cable).When I hold the pedal in the same position with the fault apparent,normally going up a hill, the readings stay around what I normally see at idle.The power does return on and off and the reading rises sharply with this.I have replaced the pedal position sensor but no improvement.Any ideas ...?

Changed MAP sensor on this one ,now runs perfect! Dont know what pedal position readings were all about as previos post,maybe someone has an idea...? Anyway its cured now and my sanity is saved.
