Vauxhall Omega 2.2 Z22XE 2002 - Hesitant, popping back, misfire #

( Optional ) Scanner Used: snap on modis

Hi, we had this car come in 3 days ago as it was running rough but not really a misfire, it wont rev up and pops back through the inlet. it seems to be worse when its cold. heres the catch, its intermittent
you can start it up and it runs like a pig, switch it off and on again and its perfect. i have noticed that if you touch the throttle when starting it plays up, if you dont touch it its fine. scanned for codes using modis, there are no codes. i have checked live data but nothing looks odd, i have scoped airmass, temp sensor, crank sensor, cam sensor, egr valve and lamdas i have also checked coil pack, fuel pressure and valve timing, every thing looks as it should. i have checked sensors when running ok and not and they dont change. i dont know how to check throttle body / stepper motor. any help or ideas would be much appreciated as its now driving me nuts.

Hi

I had a v6 omega with simlar issues and that was baffles in back box blocking exhaust.

Inlet vacuum test would be good ! (when fault present.

Sound like a airmass,you cant alway see fault on scope,Ive found you sometimes have to disconect battery after fitting to help resetting adaptions.

hi, checked exhaust for blockages today and also swapped out the airmass but still the same, road tested again today and when going up a hill it felt almost like fuel starvation but i have got good flow and pressure is at 2.7 bar. looking at lamdas the engine is running lean thanks again kev.

Did you disconect battery? Ive been there with one of these,I swapped afm and it didnt help and after loads of wasted time i put new afm on and disconected battery for 2 hrs and it ran perfect.

Hi all,
Had a sintra in once think its the same engine with same symptons and it was the egr valve at fault not sure if you`ve looked at it yet but might be worth a look.

has any one changed the cam sensor this is a critical unit that must have the correct vauxhall unit as other makes send the electronics nuts. ray

hi, cam sensor is a vauxhall one, cant find any faults with it, the car seems to be over fueling when cold. injector duration is about 8ms when cold and 3ms when hot, 8ms seems quite high ?

looks like your ecu as gone tits up I had one a few weeks ago on a zifira 1.8 running weak, changed air mass and it went very rich had to change both items. blue steak may be able to test unit. ray

agree with Roy, also Ray, have heard of these cars mistakenly having 2.0 cam sensor fitted not 2.2, causes many tears.

Hi
Remove the tank sender and look closely at the rubbber supply pipe in tank,it is designed with a curl in it and is very prone to splitting.

You will get pressure but not correct flow,very common on omega!pipe is 15 quid from vauxhall.

hi thanks for the replies, car has been parked up for 2 weeks now as ive not had time for it, getting back on it tomorrow hopefully .
ecu has now been tested ( no fault found ).

Did you try as Roy suggested & did you check fuel pipe as suggested?
You could at least say whether you have tried their suggestions or not after people have tried helping you. It really annoys me when I try helping someone & they seem to ignore every suggestion that I make. I expect that saying you couldn't fault anything else, means that you have checked their suggestions, but I think it needs to be made clear.
Sorry for moaning at you , but it's this sort of thing that stops people bothering to reply to posts.
