Evening all,
This vehicle does not have a problem with these fault codes - I do. I attended this vehicle yesterday for an un-related fault (MOT exhaust emission failure) which was down to a Lambda sensor. However, it came up with these codes which relate to Ignition circuit A,C and D primary/secondary circuit malfunction. Faults cleared down and then re-appeared immediately on start up. Moved coil A to cylinder 2 and the fault followed it. Now, this vehicle does not and never had a mis-fire whilst in the 1 year ownership of the customer.
Subsequent investigation has revealed that Audi began replacing all TT vehicles with up-graded coils in March 2003 FOC but not as a re-call. The 3 coils bringing up the faults are the new up-graded coils. So I wonder why this is. Does the ECU need to be adapted to "see" these coils? Or is there something else going on?
Your thoughts would be welcome.
Incidentally, EML had been disabled presumably to mask this fault.
