Heres a fault with this car dont know if weve caused a problem or not! Vehicle arrived with an oil leak from cam seals, belt was soaked recommended a belt change and renew seals, simple! not! Having done the job the engine showed symptoms of low oil pressure (noisy tappets), so we dropped the sump, there's the problem, silicone in the oil pick up strainer. reassembled bristling with confidence! Problem still there, rechecked strainer, ok! Noticed that the engine also runs quite slowly on idle about 600 rpm when warm about 10 psi oil pressure have also renewed oil pump as signs of wear, still no further forward, no codes present. I have read a bit about dephasers packing up? Or require setting up? Many thanks for reading . Phrom fil.
Gone in a bit deeper on this one now removed cams, found extremly worn camshaft bearings also cams have picked up too, not good, obviously caused by lack of lube, has sgns of being apart before, lots of white silicone sealant everywhere! Engine required! A lesson here for us, do a more thorough check on unknown cars before begining work!
