Volvo V70 2.4 2000 - Temp gauge in red, Code P0116 engine coolant temp circuit #

Year of Manufacture *: 2000
Engine Code or CC *: 2400
( Optional ) Scanner Used: modis

temp gauge in red & mil light on.fault codes p0116 engine coolant temp circuit, range / performance. when ect sender is disconnected the gauge stays in red, when sender is connected temp from data stream appears to be correct hot & cold but when disconnected data stream indicates -40 which is what i would expect.their does not appear to be a separate sender for the gauge , wiring seems ok but probably need to look deeper any ideas ?

hi Dave
There is only one sender it is under the thermostat
are there any codes in the drivers information module (dash)?

from memory the temp is on CAN from the PCM to the DIM

Hello Dave

With a code description of temp circuit, range / performance

and the live data looking ok

I would be checking to see if the thermostat is operating correctly first.

e.g. if the thermostat is stuck open the ECU will see a slow warm up period and bring on a light because of It.
