Vauxhall Vectra B 2.0 X20VEV 1999 - MIL on, poor idle and no comms #

Year of Manufacture *: 1999
Engine Size and Code *: X20XEV
( Optional ) ECU Type: simtec 56.5
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Tech 2
( Optional) Fault Codes: none

Comms ok with all other ecu's.
Checked continuity of both wires ECU/DLC.
ECU connector clean.
Comms returned after reconnecting ECU, no drivability issues, MIL or codes.
Customer has it back and symptoms have returned.
Coming back Monday.

Could do with a "Siver Bullet" here as it would be worth more than the car!

Hi Phil,

Haven't seen one of these for years. Have you cleaned the throttle body/plate and ISCV? This problem was a good little money earner for me. Also suffered with plenty of crankcase blow-by. Assume emissions not showing anything un-toward?.

Hi Phil,

I have one of these sitting around with the X20XEV engine with a broken cambelt, it is on a 98 but you are welcome to have the ECU to try

Thanks for the offer Tony. I think you may be on the right lines but it is all academic now.

The car has faulted again. The owner has a family member who is a mechanic and knows what is wrong. In the unlikely event it comes my way again I will politely tell him to "Sling his hook"

Hello Phil,
I have had one of these with similar symptoms & it was the ecu at fault. I had it repaired twice & it only lasted a couple of days each time, so I ended up getting a second hand unit , with keys & receiver.
