Alfa Romeo 2.0 16v 2003 - Will not idle when cold #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 16v ts
( Optional ) Scanner Used: actia multi diag
( Optional) Fault Codes: no fault codes

Vehicle will not idle when cold, runs OK after running for 10 min, no fault codes present, fuel pressure OK, scope pattern of fuel pump OK and running at 6 amps, air mass meter showing as 1.9v at idle when warm and 4.6 v at full throttle and response time is good, have substituted throttle body still bad when cold, live data readings for temp sensor when cold read close to outside temp,any help would be most appreciated

Hi Mark,

My initial approach would be to ensure that the throttle body/plate is clean. There appears to be no ISCV or similar to clean. I would want to see what the emissions are like cold (hold throttle open slightly) and hot. I am assuming the temp readings you have given is the air temp sensor. I would like to see what the CTS is doing from cold. I suspect that the replacement throttle body might require adaptions reset if all else fails, although I have on occasion managed to get the ECU to re-learn the new parameters by driving the vehicle for 20 mins or so.

Thanks for reply Pete, have cleaned throttle body and have erased learned values, will scope coolant temp and check emissions, will post if fixed, again thanks for reply
