Mercedes Benz A160 Petrol 1999 - EGR valve location, where is it? #

Year of Manufacture *: 1999
Engine Size and Code *: 1600 petrol

As it says in the title!
Cant see the egr valve anywhere?
Ecu is coming up with an egr valve fault and vehicle is running rough. Wanted to clean/test egr valve but cant actually see where it is!
Is this just me being a bit dense or is it hidden away under the manifold or something?
All help much apreciated. Is an a 160 1600 petrol.

What code did you get? and using what sacnner ? I think you will be looking a long time for an EGR on this.

because i don,t think it has one.

Yes indeed it didnt have an egr valve!!
However my sykes scanner was saying it had a fault with it!! Turned out to be dirty throttle housing causing it to run rough, as for the egr valve...not sure if it was the scanner misinterpreting a code or the car being a bit nuts!!
Anyways fixed it and pointed out to the customer that its not meant to rev above 4500 at standstill either!!
I dont rate the sykes scanner at all it seems to not talk to most things its meant to and even when it does it tells you some rubbish sometimes!!

Sykes is far from perfect, but those problems you mention are mainly caused by operator selecting wrong system !!! (been there) Just because it connects,does no mean it is correct system.

As Aidan states no code reader is perfect, is you ACR up to date? All the guys at SP R&D are good, and really like this kind of feed-back @
