Audi A6 2.4 V6 1998 Auto - Gearbox fault, code P0717 #

Year of Manufacture *: 1998
Engine Size and Code *: 2.4 v6

hi all need help have this audi came in customer asked us to fit a automatic transmision it was second hand so don't know its history we fitted it runs good for around 200 metres them all the letter for all the gears light up on dash think its (safe mode). It them stays in 4th gear till you restart the car & same again. fault code p0717 input turbine/speed sensor A circuit -G182 no signal, on live data when driving 1500RPM input speed 0.0 r/min & output speed -g195 1152 r/min. Need to know what is the turbine sensor where is it placed & has anyone had this problem. many thanx

hi joe i take it you have cleared the fault codes and they have come back if so it sounds like a problem with the controller that sits on the back of the gearbox or inside cab under carpet BBA-Reman can repair these

hi Barry yeah when you clear the code it would drive good for 200 metres i them reset them when driving its ok again live data does show zero for input signal. Your rite the TCM is under the drive side carpet so you think getting it tested is the next step i was thinking it was the sensor in the transmission because why does it read the output signal ok.

hi joe have you checked all connections on the control box might be worth getting a price for a TSS sensor first to gain access toit you have to remove the oil pan ticky little job but make sure you use genuine gearbox oil

Yeah Barry the tss is behind the valve block not easy to get to, i looked on autodata to see if they have any diagrams for tcm but when i disconnected mine its different i was thinking if i knew the pin out data i can do a resistant test on the input & output from the loom. They must be very similar as the do the same job if both are working.
