This car has only coverd 13000 miles from new.
I sold this car to my daughter,as the car was low on fuel i drove about 10 miles to my nearest petrol station. On restarting the engine made a heavey knocking noise for a few seconds then all was normal. Again at a trafit light the noise came back for a few seconds. Before i got back to the garage the mil light came on.
Checked for codes with snap on modis and code P0011 came up. Cleard code and have used the car for the best part of the week with no further noise, until today. Started the car after lunch and the same noise came back. Same code again.
I dont remember the exact works for the code, but was somthing to do with the VVT inlet camshaft timing.
I removed the timing cover and rocker cover but i cant see anything obiesley wrong.
I suspect that it a fault with the motor that works the inlet camshaft, but never had to do anything with this set up before i am a bit lost.
I have checked the input and output to the inlet vvt motor and is shows nbv on one and a switched earth on the other.
Could smomeone tel me how this system works and how to change the camshaft motor if ????. Thanks,
