Toyota Rav 4 2.0 1AZ-FE 2002 - Hesitation when accelerating (waveforms) #

Engine Size and Code *: 2000 VVT Engine code 1AZ-FE
( Optional ) Scanner Used: AD & Hanatech
( Optional) Fault Codes: NONE

Hi

Have a problem with RAV 4
Vehicle drives normally most of time but on occassions hesitates when accelerating from slow speeds.

When fault occurs ignition signal is missing and injectors not working

Cannot fault earths and lives

Blue CKP
Yellow CMP
Red Ignition
Green Injector

Any ideas are welome

Check the throttle position sensor.
I have seen these go faulty on a Celica causing hesitations and intermittent loss of power. I did not see it in live data but caught it with the scope.

TPS O.K

Blue CKP
Red Ignition signal
Green injector
Yellow TPS

The problem i have looks as if the ignition signal is being lost and then the injector signal is lost

Hi

Just a thought, have you considered possible HT interference causing a problem. e.g caused by incorrect plugs.

Can you post the PSD file?
Toyota's cut injection to cylinders when they see a misfire to save the cat.
Looking at the post it looks like the ignition signal drops to a negative spike just as the injection is lost. Could this be HT spark jumping somewhere?
Where are you getting your ignition signal from?
