Audi RS4 4.2 2006 - P0491 Secondary air system fault bank 1 #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 4.2
( Optional ) Scanner Used: snap on
( Optional) Fault Codes: p0491

Hi

p0491 is a secondary air system fault bank 1, any one had this fault or any info on it, I have cheacked all pipes but all seem to be ok???

please help

Hi Tom,

I can see that you have looked at the pipes, but what other tests have you done?

Have you tried the run the system from the scan tool, have you checked the control circuit, are the fuses OK, are there any other fault codes present, etc.

Hi, yes had the front bumper off and head light to cheack all vacumme pipes, Fuses ok, and relay is ok, i carnt seem to work the system through our scan tool, ive erased the fault for now and seem to be fine, any way of bench testing the pump and solonoid etc.... thanks for the reply

There are many ways to move forward with this system but a simple way to test the system may be to replace the motor with a 55 watt bulb and then start the vehicle from cold.
