Audi A3 2.0 FSI 2003 - Code 17439 intake manifold tuning valve #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 fsi
( Optional ) Scanner Used: vcds
( Optional) Fault Codes: 17439-P1031

hi
car as in subject. I just had it for an hour to recognize what the problem is. MIL light on , 17439 fault logged in .Solenoid for the flaps in manifold is working and operating flaps nicely. Did anybody how any experience with this fault?

Evening Peter,
did you ever get to the bottom of this one?

I have a 1.6 FSI being dropped off tomorrow with this code logging & quite a large parts bill accompanying it.

Running MED 9.5.1 ?

Whats the Vac supply / Reserve volume like ?

Two point control or variable ?

Any other codes?

Afternoon Mark,
MED 9.5.1.00

Vac supply good, no leaks in vac circuit.

2 point control to my knowledge.

1 x Code logged:
17439 (P1031) Activation intake manifold flap for air stream regulation
SPECIFIED VALUE NOT REACHED

Ongoing, handed it back to the garage who dropped it with us today for further testing - suspect mechanical issue with the flaps.

Actuator test ? feedback sensor playing up?

Plastic linkage "rod" broken/slipping on the shaft?

if the manifold has been removed & the fault has occurred since the flaps are probably trapped by the manifold (not been refitted with flaps in open position), seen it before

Thanks Steve,
The original garage had fitted a new manifold/runner, vac pod, solenoid & vac pipes & potentiometer.
We think the same, I asked him if he held the flaps open when bolting it up & he didn't - he's going back through his work now.
