Hi All Need help with testing procedures. This is my son`s vectra gsi, Started normally in the morning, done approx 25mls journey, Parked up for 1 hr, returned to use now non start. Tried my SPI only eobd available. But noticed in live data cooling sensor reading -40, also intake air temp also -40. Borrowed vaux com to code read and got the following codes. p0110 intake air temp circuit low input. p0115 coolant temp circuit low input. p1122 accelerater pedal position sensor 2 high input. Started testing cooling sensor which i thought at first was open circuit, But i had the meter on to low a setting, on the coolant sensor wiring Disconnected) i was getting approx 11.2 v. and the same on the intake air sensor. Now removed the the coolant sensor wiring to the next junction in the loom, load tested the wiring with a h/light bulb okay, This is where i need help on how to load test the the sensors feeds and earth`s correctly, ie if a connect a h/lamp bulb direct to sensors feed wires then to batt earth should it light up, I would like to try and diagnos/fix this myself. as the car is lying outside my sons house disabled, as even to get at the coolant sensor involves removing the front and centre plenoms. I have also checked the fuse feeding both sensors, and also tried a new coolant sensor.
Buy the way this has a dastek uni chip wired into the ecu wiring loom, which has been on the car for over 7 yrs now , with no problems, also had this unplugged which made no difference.
Regards John
Re: Vauxhall Vectra B 2.6 gsi Non Start sensor circuits low input
I would use a 21w indicator bulb, yes it should light, see what voltage you have at sensor when cranking.
Some useful videos on youtube on just this way of testing, Google "Scanner Danner" american cars but principals are the same.
If codes are being set signal wires should be intact, you can check grounds with your bulb as well go from batt + to ground wire and bulb should light, good idea to have an inline 5amp fuse before the bulb though.
Re: Vauxhall Vectra B 2.6 gsi Non Start sensor circuits low input
Hi Thanks for the reply. Testing with just ignition on at the 2 wire plug coolant sensor br/gr wire, and brown wire on the maf sensor which incorporates the air temp sensor, I am getting 9.6 volts on the meter (car battery getting low with testing). The connecting test bulb 21w to battery neg and then to the above wire`s, bulb does not light. is this loosing the feed somewhere.
Would i need to unplug the injectors to do the cranking test, As i have the front & centre plenoms and various connections off, to gain access, And to stop unwanted petrol being injected into engine.
Re: Vauxhall Vectra B 2.6 gsi Non Start sensor circuits low input
Esi shows pin 3 of the maf sensor is a common earth to maf, coolant temp and cam sensor back to pin 26 0f ecu.Measure wiring at pin 3 (maf) to batt pos should be batt voltage.Try connecting a test light to pin 3 and ground .Bulb type not led tester.
Re: Vauxhall Vectra B 2.6 gsi Non Start sensor circuits low input
Hi Andy Much appreciate your input on this. I have been using tolerance data on this. which is showing the 3 items you mentioned, as having a common feed to them (not earth) from passenger fuse box. fuse 36 20amp. would like to call you, if you would not mind for some advice. As my typing is so slow

Re: Vauxhall Vectra B 2.6 gsi Non Start sensor circuits low input
Thanks for the replies. It was as Andyhyoung suggested missing an earth to the 3 sensors mentioned. I was either reading the wiring diagram incorrectly. Or it was wrong. Anyway wired in new earth and all is well. Had to leave it the last 2 days, as it was non stop rain. Thanks andy for the telephone conversation/Advice
