VW Golf 1.4 BLG 2006 - Rough running, code 12296 #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 1400 blg
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Autodiagnos
( Optional) Fault Codes: 12296

Hello had this one in today just as i was leaving, did a quick scan and retrieved some codes of which 2 were relating to the coolant temperature sensor but the 3rd is 12296 for which i can find no reference. i have cleared the codes but this one remains.

the vehicle runs rough and when revved hard makes an unusual sound from the back of the engine around where the throttle body is located. I could really use a heads up on this one or a pointer in the right direction.

check data in eobd you may find a code discription there.also is tempreture changing in live data or is it stuck? better still can you scope the cts?

I did try a quick scan in eobd but there were no code's, didn't get a chance to see what the temp was doing in block but will have a go tomorrow when i go in. do you have any idea what the code is. a quick look on the www. found nothing.
