VW Golf 1.6 1999 - Failed emissions mot test, code 00537 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 1999
Engine Size and Code *: 1600 auto
( Optional ) Scanner Used: snap-on soluspro
( Optional) Fault Codes: 00537 02 sensor regulation lower stop value

Car came in for mot failed emissions test reading are
fast idle test engine speed 2450rpm
co level 5.14% fail (0.30)
hc level 555ppm fail (200)
lambda 0.86 fail (0.97-1.03)

second fast idle at 2450rpm
co level 5.73% fail (0.30)
hc level 670ppm fail (200)
lambda 0.84 fail (0.97-1.03)

natural idle test at 818rpm
co level 2.54% fail (0.50)

got fault code 00537 (changed lambda sensor) made no change to emissions

Can anyone help with this problem?

What other tests have you done i.e smoke test, scope O2 sensors, fuel trims to me this is all information I would want to get before replacing any components amongst a few others.

have you tried throttle body clean and re learn solus pro does re calibration of throttle body

if its been running those emisssions for a while could have killed cat also an oil change would not hurt

Hi there,
your obviously aware that the vehicle is overfueling, have you doner any live data readings? Air mass meter? Hole in exhaust near lambda causeing weak signal? Could be loads possibly more readings/data to help pin it down would help.
