VW Polo 1.8 GTi BJX 2006 - Cam timing adjustment Valve N205, code 17936 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 1.8 BJX
( Optional) Fault Codes: 17936

Hi there got a 2006 polo GTi 1.8 with fault Camshaft Timing Adj. Bank1 (N205): Open Circuit

the car has no drivablity problems just throws this fault code every now and then?

has anyone had this fault before as the n205 valve only comes from TPS as a whole cam chain tensioner unit not just the solenoid and i have no wiring diagram or ECU pin out for this model to confirm its the solenoid that is at fault

The only fuse i can see is fuse 14 on fuse box 2, can only think this is hidden in the car somewhere as i have no component location.

But,

i doubt this to be the cause as it looks a common fuse feed to other components so i'd expect to have mroe codes than just the one you have unless it has a broken supply or ecu switch side error.

pin 1 - blue/black = supply
pin 2 - blue/yellow = ecu command @ ecu pin 115 of the 121 pin connector.

Thanks for the info I managed to trace the wire back to the ECU and fuse box but all was okay, ended up replacing the whole chain adjuster unit, this did sort the problem. Very strange as the solinoid worked fine on the bench

Hi Scott do you need a special tool for the adjuster unit ? as i have an audi a5 with cam/crank fault codes and have been told by audi tech it could be adjuster unit but a special tool is needed to remove it.
